About This Site:
This site was born out of thinking that sometimes it's valuable to be able to write an acknowledgement, not necessarily directly to a person but also to communicate an acknowledgement or a message "out there" - to the Universe, if you like.
An acknowledgement might take many forms. It could be an expression of gratitude for something done for you, a compliment to them for who they are, or perhaps a recognition of what they have achieved.
Or it might be a gesture of regret, an admittance of a wrongdoing or an expression of awareness that feelings have been hurt. It certainly shouldn't be associated with blame or with shame, however.
Whatever the nature of the acknowledgement, sometimes the person to whom it is directed or intended for is not able or available to read it, but the need to acknowledge in some way does remain. In other cases, it can be difficult to admit a wrongdoing or to take responsibility for things that have happened..
Acknowledgements may simply be realisations that hitherto have not been expressable - and perhaps circumstances now do not provide a venue for those realisations to be communicated.
All these things are what IacknowledgeYou.com is intended for. A virtual place and emotional outlet for the writing of acknowledgements to or about someone else, whether they are able or invited to read them or not.
We hope the site is useful to you, whatever your acknowledgement - whether you want to simply say that you pushed in line at the supermarket that time or you should have let that other motorist go first, or if you want to show that you do value that person in your life or are thankful in any way.
How it Works
This site is designed to be as simple as possible. We hope we achieved the most appropriate level of registration in order to contribute:
1. You do not need to login or register in order to post an acknowledgement.
2. Simply click on the "Add a New Entry" link in the menu at any time to start posting. If you are browsing a category then that category will be selected by default, otherwise select an apppropriate category into which your post will be placed.
3. Posts are moderated, meaning that they are subject to approval before being published.
4. Comments on acknowledgements requires registration and logging in - this is to protect posters from unwarranted attacks or other personal comments.
5. Comments are also moderated before being published.

Acknowledgements
This site wouldn't be true to its purpose unless acknowledgement was given to Pam who directly and indirectly contributed to the idea of the value of acknowledgements and finding a "safe" space to make them.
